Summary of Recent Events
Well another semester is under way and we braved the dodgy weather to kick it off in style. On Wednesday August 8 we fired up the Barbie, sliced the onions and splashed around the sauce to welcome in the new semester, say hello to everyone and celebrate the launch of our new website. Here’s a brief recap of the events this year:
At the New Member Reception and Induction on May 24, we participated in a workshop with the very inspiring Bob Allwright who demonstrated that a brilliant attitude is the key to success. At the AGM held after the event, the new executive committee was elected and the Golden Key Curtin Chapter was re-launched and re-energised.
On the last day of Semester 1, Friday 1 June, we held an introductions event and asked attending members to complete a survey. This was designed to find out exactly what everyone hopes to get out of Golden Key and to discover which events, charities, career assistance and community involvement our members are interested in, so that we can make GK activities relevant to you.
During the holidays, we’ve been busily planning for the future and have gone through the surveys to identify key themes. If you go to the list of charities and causes we have chosen to support, you will see that we have adopted a diverse approach, choosing those we can support through awareness raising, through active involvement by donating time and manpower, or through fundraising. As a member, you have the choice to become involved with any of these areas and we look forward to working alongside you.
In our next round of planning we will examine what career events and social events we will hold this year so watch this space for news.
As our VP, Brad has said, you really get more out of Golden Key when you get involved. If you would like to be more active in Golden Key, why not join the executive committee. Meetings are held at 6.30pm on the first Monday of every month in building 599. You are most welcome to attend; this is a really good time to get involved and participate in planning and a really nice way to meet like-minded people on campus. You can also email us at goldenkey@curtin.edu.aufor more information on joining the executive, or to ask questions or make suggestions.

Welcome to the Curtin Chapter of Golden Key!
In 2006, Golden Key will build on the good work carried out by previous committees to:
- Increase recognition of the organisation both on and off campus
- Deliver improved benefits for members
- Actively assist the community by partnering with other organisations
One of the key objectives of the 2006 committee is to improve communication with Chapter members. The main channels of communication will be this website, which will be updated frequently, and your e-mail. If you have changed you e-mail address recently, or would like to stop receiving our mass mail outs please let us know.
If there is anything that you would like to see incorporated into this site, please make a suggestion and we will do our best to fit it in.
Looking for something to do for the next 10 minutes?
Check out our "Fun" page, with lots of downloadable content to keep you and your friends amused for hours. Recent additions include a Turkey Shooting game (perfect for post-exam stress relief) and some very clever commercials.
